Junior High Youth Group Service Trip to New York
July 10-13, 2002

(Left) Our destination was Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall, New York

(Right) Pastor Steve greeted us.

Our service project was to assist at the Rochester Lutheran Ministry Inner City Day Camp. With 15 youth volunteers, we were happy to see one bus of 50 "campers" show up. But a second bus arrived. Then a third. Yes, 150 day campers for 15 volunteers. We were so busy we didn't have time to take pictures.

Our second service project was to assist with the Sunday worship service at Concordia.

With our remaining time we visited a local farm to see the workings of a large farm. We also got to visit Niagra Falls.

(Left) The Kludt Bros. Farm was no small operation. Samantha, sitting inside the rim of a tire on the combine, proves the point.

(Right) A nearby pick-your-own farm was our next stop.

(Right) Our visit to Niagra Falls took us to the American and Canadian sides.

(Right) We even took the trip down to the bottom of the falls.

(Left) If there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, we hope we were a ray of hope for the inner city youth of Rochester, NY.

Senior High Youth Group Service Trip to North Carolina
July 21-25, 2002

Our senior high students traveled to Kure Beach near Wilmington, North Carolina. Here they performed several service projects in the area. In their free time they also had some time to relax on the beach and learn to surf.

We joined a youth contingent from Kannapolis, North Carolina and together we socialized, worked and felt we did many worthwhile things.

We washed cars...for FREE!!

We helped out at a local Boys and Girls Club

We helped out with activities and crafts at the Agape Kure Beach Day Camp.

After a tough day on the beach, we did find time to relax.

We took with us memories of two nine hour drives (yuk) fueled by Krispy Kreme donuts (yeah), meeting and making new friends from Kannapolis, NC, and service to those less fortunate than us.
