Our music ministry endeavors to carry out the broader mission of the church in a variety of ways: |
| |
• |
To Preach by enhancing the proclamation of God’s word, allowing the music ministry to support and complement the message at every worship service of the congregation and at other functions as appropriate. |
| |
• |
To Teach by seeking out, developing, and empowering the musical talent of the congregation, encouraging everyone to participate and employing a variety of styles to engage all ages and tastes. |
| |
• |
To Reach Out by having a strong and multi-faceted music program that provides opportunities for our congregation and the larger community to experience the good news of Jesus Christ through music.

American Guild of English Handbell Ringers Festival |
Kutztown Universith - -July 7-10 |

|
The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers Festival was held at Kutztown University July 7th-10th. The conference included workshops on bell ringing and hand chime techniques, classes on musical composition and three free concerts open to the public. Performances ranged from classical arrangements by Bach and Debussy to Scott Joplin ragtime and Irish folk tunes. The concert, orchestrated by internationally known conductor Deborah S. Rice, heralded the conclusion of a five-day conference.
In addition to Calvary Lutheran, musicians from bell choirs at Friedens Lutheran Church in Bernville and Reformation Lutheran Church in Reiffton participated in the conference.
The guild, an arm of the Handbell Musicians of America, holds conferences every two years. It rotates the location between New York, Scranton and Kutztown.
