| A Safe Place for Kids |
| |
At Reformation we know the importance of safety for your children. Educational Ministry at Reformation follows the guidelines of the child protection policy. All Sunday School classes and confirmation events are staffed by at least 2 adults, and all our volunteers have been asked to provide criminal background checks and child abuse clearances. |

| Sunday School |
| |
Our Sunday School program is open to students ages 3 through adult and runs from September through June. Preschool through grade 6 use the curriculum, "Akaloo", from Augsburg Fortress. This is a curriculum that emphasizes discipleship as the basis of faith formation. Online resources are available for family use throughout the week. The 7th and 8th grade class uses the curriculum "Here We Stand", which features in-depth lessons from the Old and New Testament. Our 9th grade class complements the 3rd year of our confirmation program and emphasizes faith in daily life. The teen class uses "Faith Lens" to stimulate discussion as to how one's faith is practiced in light of contemporary news and events. The adult Sunday school class centers around the lessons heard in that morning's Worship.

| Confirmation |
| |
Reformation has a 3 year confirmation program which usually begins in 7th grade. The program is intended to offer the opportunity for a student to personally affirm his or her commitment to Jesus Christ. In essence the student says “yes” to their baptism. They do so with meaning and integrity, having received instruction in the teaching of the Christian faith. Students in the first two years attend four mini-retreats in addition to worship and Sunday School. During the last year of the program students are paired with a mentor and encouraged to engage in monthly activities to discuss growing in the faith. After completing all three years, the students are typically confirmed on the day of Pentecost.

| First Communion |
| |
First Communion instruction is offered to students beginning in 3rd grade. Three class sessions allow students and their parents to learn about this important sacrament of the Lutheran church, before receiving the meal. Students coming from another congregation who have already communed need not attend these classes regardless of age. |

| Vacation Bible School |

Reformation hosts Vacation Bible School each summer for a week. The dates are usually at the end of July, and ages 3 through grade 6 are invited to participate as students. Grades 7 through adult are invited to teach and help if their schedules allow.
The theme for 2008 was Rainforest Adventure and emphasized our stewardship of God’s creation.
The theme for 2009 is Discovery Canyon and more information can be found by accessing the Augsburg Fortress website. |
